Today, we are going to be making Italian spaghetti sauce and meatballs.
To begin, no matter the recipe, always wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm, soapy water.
When working with raw meat, remember to avoid cross-contamination. Always keep it separated from other ingredients.
When mincing the garlic, remember to keep a safe grip on the knife; it should be held as far forward as possible on the grip with two fingers firmly gripping the blade.
As you saute the onions and garlic, remember to keep all flammable materials away from the stove. It is also a good idea to keep a fire extinguisher nearby, just in case.
After you add the tomatoes and some of the spices, while you let them simmer, remember to keep pot handles moved off to the side, over the stove, so people walking by will not knock into them.
When removing the lid of your pot, remember to open away from you and use the lid as a shield from the steam. The steam can still burn you!
