What do you mean!?! This buffoon isn't fit to be president. He will ruin our country. Jackson is an ignorant man and can't be president. There's a reason he's called Old Hickory. And have you heard the scandals about his wife. That donkey political cartoon sums him right up.
The People's Government!
Well Jackson is the people's choice. Us regular people are finally represented. We live in a democracy buddy and the government belongs to the people not just a few rich guys like you. Jackson saw this and will finally change things around here. The Democratic party has risen up against their corrupt rule. Jackson Forever!!!
Jacksonian Democracy started with Andrew Jackson. It's the idea that the people, like me, should control the government. Meaning everyday, ordinary people are in charge of the government. Jackson firmly believes in the people controlling the government. He myself started out as an ordinary person and rose up. The people that got him elected were ordinary people. He helped bring regular people into the voting process.
To The VictorGoes The Spoils
The Spoils System was what opponents of Jackson called his practice of removing government officials from their jobs and giving it to supporters. Jackson did this because he felt that these positions weren't life time and rotating was more democractic.
Calhoun I totally with you the tariff is very unconstitutional. They favor the north and we can't get cloth for the slaves. But Jackson doesn't agree with getting rid of the tariff. We nullified the law and are now threatening to secede. I'm surprised Jackson isn't down here starting a war, instead he wrote us a letter. Jackson is willing to do whatever is best for the country.
Upon Jackson's urging Congress passed a bill that gave him the right to use the army to enforce tariffs. They also passed a compromise to lower the tariffs.
As you all now I do not support the the national bank. I believe that this bank only helps and benefits the rich, not workers and farmer, the back down of America. The national bank also gravely hurts smaller state banks who can't compete with it. To add on to the already insurmountable problems of the national bank it also takes away and the opportunity frontiersmen capitalists have. Given all of this I hereby veto the renewal charter for the bank.
Not only Jackson vetoed the renewal charter he also removed the federal funding and that killed the bank before the charter even ran out.
The Indian Removal Act gave Andrew Jackson the right to make treaties with the Native Americans and trade land. It didn't say anything about removing them by force. Andrew Jackson who had campaigned on getting the Native American land removed those who didn't voluntarily leave by military force. People wanted this land because it was great for growing cotton. The trail of tears was when Native America groups were marched for hundreds of miles to new territory that the government forced them on. Many died on the journey. Cultures were lost and this left a stain on the U.S.
