The church didn't let Copernicus and Galileo continue their teachings because they are questioning the churches teachings. Copernicus said that the Earth revolves around the sun and in the bible it says that the sun revolves around our planet. Galileo supported the heliocentric theory and taught more things to the people which got him under house arrest. The church was scared that the people would think they are liars and not donate to them anymore
Their studies helped us understand some of the confusing things in our everyday life and they helped scientists today find new discoveries and make things interesting and fun. We use the scientific method in our projects, and we use the heliocentric theory to understand space and we use the newton laws
