- After Ponyboy was hit by Darry he decided to runoff with Johnny and cool off at the Park. He was met by a blue mustang filled with Socs. They then approached him and Johnny and had a dispute which turned into a fight for walking with Cherry and Marcia.
- Once the fight broke out David along with Bob caught Ponyboy and twisted his arm and started to drown him. Johnny was on the ground but decided to stand back up and stab Bob in self defense.
- Right after the fight with the Socs where Johnny killed Bob they ran off to Windrixville and saved kids burning in a church they were hiding inside of. Johnny was rushed to the hospital. He then passed away after the rumble.
