St Elizabeth was born in 1206 and was immediately born into royalty . She got Married in 1221 at the age of 14
Her compassion and charity for the poor, the hungry, the homeless and the sick had no bounds. She often gave away food supplies from the castle pantry much to the annoyance of others. St Elizabeth also sold her jewellery in order to continue helping the needy families near the castle.
HusbandAfter Elizabeth's husband died, she focused on helping the needy and sick. Elizabeth was able to help build a hospital for the poor with her money.
In 1223 the Franciscan fryers arrived and told St Elizabeth all about Francis of Assisi ideas. She had learnt from the Franciscan that it is important to be patient, to give to the needy, to be humble in your heart and to pray to God.
Why is St Elizabeth House at our school
Her husband past away from illness in 1227 . She vowed to never remarry and to live a life similar to a nun, despite pressure from relatives.
