The Battle Of Velasco ( June 25-26, 1832 ) was the first ever true military conflict between Mexico and the Texans in the Texan Revolution. The situations in Texas had grown tense, so the Texans went to get a cannon. This resulted in the Mexican government trying to stop the Texans, and a violent battle then broke out. This fight ended up creating more tension between the Texans and the Mexicans.
The Mier y Teran Report of 1827-1829 was when Mier y Teran was sent by the Mexican government to find out what the problem was with Texas. He eventually found that most of the Texas were Americans, not Tejanos. This caused the government to fret about having too many Americans, and loosing Texas. Mier y Terans report eventually led to the passing of the Law of April 6, 1830, which made many Texans very angry.
In the year 1825, Mexico’s federal government passed a colonization law allowing states the power to make decisions about land grants. The Government of Coahuila y Tejas passed its own law in 1825 that was meant to attract foreign settlers. A lot of families could get land for a cheap price, which drew in more settlers. The government let in Americans, which eventually led to a revolution.
