Washington Surrenders Fort Necessity

The main cause of the French and Indian War was over land and the ability to trade with the Ohio valley Indians. January 1st 1750
William Pitt Increases War Spending
In 1754 George Washington lost the battle of Fort Necessity. With the help of Native American Allies, the French used guerilla warfare to weaken Washington's troops. After the battle, Washington was forced to sign a surrender document. July 17th 1754
Quebec Falls To The Britsh
Led by General Edward Braddock, the British clashed with the French for control of Fort Duquesne and the forks of the Ohio river valley. Unable to see their camouflaged enemies the British red-coats lost 977 men while the French only lost nine. September 14th 1757
Treaty of Paris
William Pitt became secretary of state for Great Britan and quickly began to drastically increase spending on the war. The French were unable to match the financial spending and this would become the turning point of the war. January 1st 1758
In 1759 the British were led by General James Wolfe to Quebec and were able to defeat the French forces. The battle was fought on the plains of Abraham, and within 20 minutes to French surrendered. The victory gave the British full access to the St. Lawrence River.
On February 10th, 1863, The Treaty of Paris was signed. the treaty ended the French and Indian war and removed the French from North America. This was the beginning of British dominance on the continent.
