Henry Ford wants to make a car for everyone

Model T is in building process
Oh yeah we need to advertise!
In early 1908, a guy named Jeff Webb struggles to go work. There was no widespread transportation and he had to walk all the way. Back then, cars were for only the wealthiest of people. It takes a long time to walk to his workplace so he is late usually.
Jeff reads the news
This new Ford Model T looks amazing. Cheap and quick transportation. 45mph???
At the same time, a guy named Henry Ford wants to build an affordable car for everyone. He had a goal to make cars available for the less wealthy people. Some people thought he was crazy and he would never be able to pull something off like this.
Jeff buys the Model T
Can I buy the Model T
Sure. Thanks for your business!
Ford hired people to help him mass produce his new car. These workers worked in factories in Georgia and built the car in an assembly line. An assembly line was much more efficient because the building process was much quicker than having one person build the whole car. As a result, workers didn't face as much turmoil and were able to produce more cars.
Jeff goes to work quickly
Going to work is really fast now!!!
Jeff is at his mailbox. He reads some news about a car called the Model T. It was quite cheap and very fast for its time. It could reach 45mph. That was unheard of back then! It costs $800 for a brand new one which is so cheap even by totays standards.
Jeff decides to buy a Model T. He realized that going to work would be much faster. He was amazed at the capabilities of this new car. It didn't hurt his financial savings because it was so cheap and affordable.
Jeff drives his Model T a lot. All of the trips he would normally take by foot are replaced by driving his model T. Other Americans started to buy cars too. After the Model T was released, cars were much more widespread and you would find roads filled with cars. By 1927, 30 million Model T cars were sold.
