The setting is a castle where Mare is being held captive. She is now sad because she has to pretend to be someone she isn't. This effects the plot because Mare can learn who is on her side.
The fantasy book Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is about first impressions can be wrong and reveals that appearances aren't always accurate for better or for worse.
In the Red Queen there is a love story that reminds me of one is a different book. This book is called Five Feet Apart. They both have a romance aspect where the people like each other but can't be together.
Man vs, Man Mare ends up against people she trusted. One saying in the book is "anyone can betray anyone" and for Mare that is way to true throughout the book. She ended up against someone she though would be on her side until the end.
This scene is when Mare is given a job at the palace. When the guards come and take Mare to the palace, I felt nervous because I didn't know why she was going there. I was also excited to see what would happen next.
