As Frederick Douglass talks about his upsetting childhood, it becomes his mission to abolish slavery once and for all.

Storyboard Text

  • Douglass faces his mother getting in trouble by the slave holder for being late on the plantation field.
  • Please don't hurt her...
  • Hurry up! Or there will be serious problems!
  • A couple of months later, Douglass's mother passes away. It was time for Douglass to go his new masters.
  • It was dark and quiet for me that I could hear the wind blowing around me. I turn around to see the sight of a couple. It was time to go to my new “home”.
  • Mrs. Auld, a sweet loving women decides to give reading lessons to Douglass. Unfortunately that didn't last long as Mr. Auld forbids the lessons from proceeding.
  • This will NOT be allowed!
  • A couple of years later...
  • A breaker tries to hit Douglass to "fix" his attitude as he sees that Douglass is not acting like a "proper slave". But, Douglass gets the upper hand and fights back.
  • You will not ever try to touch me again!
  • As time went on, Douglass realized he wanted to get away from slavery once and for all. But then he realized he wanted slavery officially gone.
  • How to get rid of slavery... First step, escaping.
  • In hopes of exposing the true intentions behind slavery, Douglass talks about his experience when he was a slave to the people in the North.
