- Something needs to be done about this!
- I hope my old master doesn´t find me.
- Do you think that man is a free man?
- Once a slave always a slave.
- I, Fredrick Douglass, once was a slave but I escaped. I wanted my life ans freedom. Slavery Is wrong and I planned to help stop it.
- Sir, do you feel that something should be done about slavery and free slaves still feeling unsafe?
- Yes, I feel that slavery should be abolished but I do not know how it could be done.
- I stand in front of you all today to speak of sadness. Slavery is worse than you make think, it is physical and emotional traumatic. You celebrate today while I feel I have no rights to celebrate on this day.
- The people understand and would like to help but they are unable to do so because it has no benefit on them.
- The white men will soon help, the time just has not occurred yet.
- I have told my story and so have my books. My word, for I can hope, will live longer on this Earth than I, myself.
- I pray that slaves will one day be able to live at peace and become free.
