Storyboard Text

  • HADES
  • This island, Crete, is where my parents Titan Chronus and Rhea had me and my siblings: Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia.
  • This is Cerberus, a three-headed dog that guards the passage to the Underworld, ensuring none of the dead escape.
  • The underworld is said to be a place you go when you die, and it is ruled by Hades and guarded by Cerberus.
  • OTHER INFORMATION As the ruler of the Underworld, Hades is actually quite passive and is not evil despite the impression he may give off. In fact, in the Underworld, he sends the "wicked" to eternal punishment. His symbols include his scepter, the Helm of Plenty, and the Helm of Darkness that gives him the power of invisibility. His passion for the people he cares about can be seen as a weakness.
  • OTHER INFORMATION Despite common belief, Cerberus is not evil. His purpose is to keep the Underworld guarded, and that usually doesn't require any rash action. In fact, outside of his duty, interruption of his sleep, or trouble regarding the Underworld, he is said to be relatively playful.
  • OTHER INFORMATION The Underworld is a place where spirits of the dead are held. Many movies and people have the misconception that the Underworld is purely evil and a resemblance to a Christian's Hell. In reality, someone's time in the underworld can be quiet and peaceful. It doesn't have to be of torture, although much of the population does have this fate.
