  • Today we are going to start a fun new science unit!
  • Our first lesson will be about chicken eggs.
  • The science teacher will be Mr. Tommy. He will teach you everything you need to know!
  • Class, look at the white shell!
  • Today we will begin to learn about all the parts of the egg.
  • The incubator is now in the classroom which is a container with proper humidity and temperature to allow fertile eggs to hatch.
  • The yolk inside the egg feeds the embryo.
  • The class will candle today to see if the organs have formed.
  • Do you see anything unusual in the egg?
  • During day 7-9, the embryo starts to look like a chick!
  • The chicks  are fluffy and cute.
  • The egg tooth is a temporary organ. The chick uses it to break through the shell.
  • The air cell increases in the size with the age of the embryo. The air cell forms between the two shell membranes.
  • On day 21 the chicks hatch! You can still see the egg tooth.
