Storyboard Text

  • Marji's Life 1
  • Too much it's our army flying!
  • My Life 1
  •
  • It's a train!
  • Marji's Life 2
  • Go on, go on...
  • When Marji was young and naive she thought the Iraqi F-14s were Iranian planes. She didn't realize the seriousness of the situation. Marji wouldve grown up in a time of peace had it not been for the Iraq-Iran War.
  • My life 2
  • Now boarding Flight 317 Toronto to Budapest!
  • Likewise, when terrorists flew 2 passenger planes into the World Trade Center, I mistook the smoke from the towers as the smoke coming from a train. My birthday 9/11 would never have a negative connotation with it.
  • Marji's Life 3
  • Then I took stock of my property. I owned an empty armoire, a too small desk, a bed, a rug and a cassette-radio.
  • Marji's flight to Vienna was a major event in her life. This was the first time she'd be separated from her parents for more than a week. She had been overseas alone before, but this was a longterm stay living without her family. Had Marji not left for Austria she would have been educated in a corrupt and repressive regime and Marji would never have the experienced a Western education.
  • My Life 3
  • Ugh... I hate change...
  • Likewise, my first trip alone overseas to Hungary was a big turning point in my life since I now had an immense amount of freedom from my parents. Had I not gone on this trip, freedom would not have been achieved for a long time.
  • Marji's return home from her education in Vienna was strange and unfamiliar for her. The culture of Austria and Iran were very different and this culture shock had an effect on Marji's attitude at home. Had Marji not returned home she may have never fully understood the difference between the Middle East and Western culture.
  • Similar to Marji's return home, after an out of state trip, I came home to my bedroom being completely remodeled. This was a big shock to me and took some time getting used to the change. Had my room not have been remodeled I'd still be living in a room with the furniture of a 12 year old.
