  • Victor likes Teresa. He always tries to get her attention, impress her, and wants her to like him also. He pretends to know French so that he can help her with her French homework.

  • ¨On the first day of school...Teresa a girl he liked since they were in catechism class together." The setting supports the theme because the setting is middle school, when you are in middle school almost everyone is pretending to be something they are not for someone else.

  • ...¨Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa." Victor raised his hand saying he knows French when really he does not because he is just trying to please Teresa. This relates to the theme because Victor is not being himself.
  • ¨Teresa asked him if he would help her with her French.¨ The conflict is Victor is pretending to know French when he does not know French. This relates to the theme because when Victor is pretending to know French he is not being himself.  
  • Victor is not being himself to try and get the girl he likes to like him back. He does not know French but pretends to, to help her with her homework.  #Yourselfphobia  definition: the fear of being yourself
