In the first stanza in " I am the Land. I wait" by Marina de Bellagente it states "I am the land. I wait. You say you own me. I wait." ( Bellagente 1) In the first scene there are two different groups of people fighting about who owns the land.

In stanza 2 lines 2-4 it states "You buy me. I wait. With muddy holes and car lot eyes I stare . . ."(Bellagente 1) The fighting stopped when the red side paid the blue. You can also see the land watching from in the background through a hole in the earth.
In "I am the land. I wait" the author writes "Then someonetickles me, plants life—fruitgrass—trees/ children dance/ someone Sings"(Belleagente 1) The farms are the ones tickling the Land by planting seeds into the ground. In the background, you can see kids dancing to the guy singing. The land is also watching through a hole in the ground.

The blue side came back to get what they call their "land". The blue side has been preparing for this war/fighting. while the red side has been working to bring more income in.
In the fourth stanza in "I am the Land. I wait" the author writes "You come with guns"(Belleagente 1) In this scene, the red and blue sides are fighting for the land. Whoever wins gets the land to use for whatever their purpose may be.
In the end, they came to a tie so they decide to slit the land by making a chain-like fence across it . There are more holes added from the war. In "I am the Land\. I wait" the last stanza says "I wait.YOU CANNOT PUT A FENCE AROUND THE PLANET EARTH. I am the land. I wait." the Land has been very patient, but the fences "A chainlink necklace" (Bellagente 1) that chokes it.
