Hi my name is Nombia. I live in Mesopotamia. The modern day countries are Iraq and Iran. There are two main rivers, the Tigras river and the Eupharates river. The rivers helped give us drinking water and routes that we used.
We moved to the Zagros Mountains and over time we did not have enough land to grow food because there were a lot of people. We then moved to the plains called Sumer,
Once we moved there we had an issue with an uncontrolled water supply because of floods. The food would float away. Then other times the soil would be really dry and blew dust all around. We built irrigations systems, levees, and dams to control the water.
Our canals had to be cleaned because of silt-mud clogging on a regular basis. We would move water from one place to another to keep a balance. We developed villages, towns, and cities because everyone worked together.
We began to fight over the use of water. Some people wanted more control than others.
To protect ourselves, families, land, and water we built walls to keep others out. We started calling the places that we lived city-states. The way we worked together to control the water supply, build walls, and grow into city-states its like the modern times of today.
