  • Hello. I am Shannon from Chanel 6. Today we are going to talk to Mr Arnold about a fascinating scientific discovery.
  • Hi Shannon, so let's get right to it. Nowadays, rainwater has a pH less than 5.6. This is not good because acid rain has a harmful effect on plants, animals and humans. It is caused when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air.
  • Acid rain is caused by people burning oil, fossil fuels, petrol, gas and coal. Oil, gas and coal release harmful a gas-like, sulfur dioxide, into the atmosphere. Oil and petrol in motor vehicles cause nitrogen oxide. These 2 gases that are released into the atmosphere is the main causes of acid rain.
  • Let me explain this to you Shannon...
