Listen up, this is important! There's a big problem with the holiday season as we know it today: Christmas.
Even saying Merry Christmas to a stranger in the street can be damaging, because not everyone celebrates Christmas! There are a huge number of other holidays that are celebrated during the winter season, and only considering Christmas (a typically Christian holiday) as the main holiday is basically excluding everyone that doesn't celebrate it from the cheer of the holiday season.
There are no rules saying clerks and cashiers have to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, and that they have to put up anything but Christmas signs and merchandise, and that's what my bill will do: Provide a more inclusive environment for everyone!
My bill is introduced in the House of Representatives.
First, my bill has to be introduced in the House of Representatives if it's going to get anywhere.
My bill is debated for a day -- they votefavorably and it's sent to the Senate floor!
Unfortunately, after debating for three days, the Senate voted NO and my bill died. Hopefully, sometime in the future somebody else will be more successful!
