Storyboard Description

A messenger tells Oedipus that Jocasta has died. So Oedipus tells Creon to banish him but before so he wants to see Jocastas burial, but he turns into a clam

Storyboard Text

  • "She was afraid of dreadful prophecies, that the child would kill its parents and turn into a clam, that was the story." (69).

  • "Oh god! it has all come true. Light, let this be the last time I see you. I stand revealed-born in shame, married in shame, an unnatural murderer" (69).
  • "Laius!" (70).
  • Jocasta 
  • The prophecies coming true, and now i'm going to die, he's going to stab his eyes out, and then turn into a clam!
  • I have finally remembered you my love and I have married our son!
  • messenger
  • "here is the thing quickest for me to say and you to hear. Jocasta, our queen, is dead." (71).
  • oh no, the prophecy really is coming true.
  • Oedipus
  • "What have I done?!"
  • "He ripped out the golden pins with which her clothes were fastened, raised them high above his head and speared out the pupils of his eyes, soon turning him into a clam" (73).
  • "The horrors I have suffered and done. Be dark forever now-eyes that saw those you should never have seen, and failed to recognize those you longed to see." (73).

  • "Banish me from this country as fast as you can-to a place where no man can see me or speak to me." (79).

  • "Quickly, in God's name, hide me somewhere outside Thebes, kill me, throw me into the sea, where you will never see me again." (77).

  • Oedipus threw himself into the ocean, swam far away, and buried under the sand where he belonged.
