Peasants (Third Estate)
The First Estate (Church) owned about 15% of all land in France and they collected money from rents, taxes, and fees.
The Second Estate collects dues from the peasants. And the Third Estate were peasants which were not happy about paying taxes and money.
There were many discontents that were happening in France. For one, families had more children to support. and they need more food and money.
During the 1700s, the bourgeoisie prospered. They wanted privileges such as political power, conducting business without interference from the government, and also for their sons to have impotant positions in the church, army, and government.
The peasants (Third Estate) and the middle class (Second Estate) both shared an idea. That idea was that they wanted "liberty" and "equality" as their natural rights.
