Newton's Laws

Newton's Laws

Storyboard Text

  • Newton's first law is that an object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest. Unless it is acted by an outside force. In this story, the boy is about to kick the ball which is at rest, but because of the outside force from the boy, the ball will now go into motion. This is called the law of Inertia.

  • Newton's 2nd law is the law of force acceleration. This law says that an object's acceleration depends on two variables, the mass of an object plus its net force. Below Carla is playing a game with her brother Tyron. They are pushing the box against each other and then joining together to push the box. This shows Newton's 2nd law.
  • Newton's 2nd Law
  • This is Newton's third law the law of Action and Reaction. This law states that there is an equal and opposite reaction for action. While fishing in a clean lake with his friends, Mike decided he wanted to swim and jumped off the boat. Newton's third law happens when Mike jumps off of the boat. Because of him jumping off the boat all his force was pushed into the boat which caused the boat to move backward. The action was Mike jumping and the reaction was the boat moving.
