Storyboard Text

  • I, King Xerxes, am declaring war on Greece to avenge my father.
  • As the Persians sail to Greece, they loose a critical amount of soldiers in a storm.
  • The Persians fight the Greeks at Thermopylae for two days but suffer tremendous losses. A Greek traitor then takes the best Persian troops around the Greek army.
  • General Leonidas led most of the Greeks out of Thermopylae. He stayed alongside the Spartans and Thespians to fight the Persians to his death.
  • Themistocles pretends to feign retreat in order to lure the Persians into a narrow strait. Once their, the Persians were badly outnumbered and had to retreat to Asia after being badly beaten by the Greeks.
  • That winter, Xerxes returned to Persia leaving his army in Greece. However, they retreated after they were badly beaten at the battle of Plataea in 479 BCE.
