Garfield was killed by Charles J. Guiteau. Charles's motive for killing Garfeiled was revenge against Garfield for an imagined political debt. When he was caught he said.
Garfield held onto life while the doctors tried to pull the bullet out but it only made matters worse. In the end, he passed away.
He died and was remembered for giving civil rights and not having slavery. And today he is still remembered.
