Teenage Sally finds family gatherings boring. She would rather hang out with her friends (or at the least texting them from the privacy of her bedroom). What can be done to keep her in the family fold for longer than three bites of turkey?

  • Where’s Sally?
  • Why are you in your room again?!
  • I’m just texting some friends, I got bored out there.
  • How about this, for every hour you stay withthe family i will give you $5.
  • I’ll be out in 10 minutes.
  • It’s been an hour, here’s your first $5
  • When sally started making money, she continued to spend time with her family for hours.
  • Money is a secondary reinforcer because it is learned to be a reward. This type of schedule would be a fixed interval (she got money every hour)
  • By using positive reinforcement of money, Sally increased her time with her family.
