  • This event happened or occurred back on October the 25th, 1774
  • My name is Penelope Baker and I was the president/organizer of the event called the Edenton Tea Party
  • This event took place in Edenton, North Carolina and all the participants were women
  • Boycotting British tea
  • Penelope and the other 50 women that participated signed a letter to King George III that they no longer be drinking tea or wearing British clothing. By taking this action it showed their patriotism.
  • They supported the cause against “no taxation without representation”
  • The Edenton women were published into a political cartoon in London. This happened in the month of March 1775
  • “The women of Edenton represented American frustrations with England monarchical rule and the need for American separation and independence.”
