I thought there was no such thing as suffering in India.
Sid was a prince who had his future told. He would either be a king or a spiritual leader. His dad desperately wanted him to follow in his steps and be a king.
I need to find the truth.
One way his dad kept him from being a spiritual leader is keeping him from seeing despair and suffering. He was protected because if he saw suffering he would want to help and eventual that becomes a spiritual leader.
I will meditate here until I find the truth.
He was 29 when he saw the four passing sights. He first saw an old man leaning on a stick. Next, he saw a ,man shrunken by disease. All of the sight after that only got worse from there.
After he saw "the for passing sights," he went into the forest to find the truth. First he goes to the gurus and does not like Hinduism so he goes to the ascetics. Eventually he abandons the ascetics so he went to find the truth in other ways.
Sid finds a tree and figures he is going to sit under it and meditate until he finds the truth. He does not stop meditating until he finds truth. Sid meditated under the tree for 49 days. On the 49th day he finds a perfect state of wisdom or enlightenment. This is how he became "the Buddha" or the enlightened one.
