Storyboard Text

  • T- The New Colossus. This title seems like it would be about a giant statue.
  • P- It isn't a giant, muscular, Greek statue. In the sea, there is a woman who stands tall with a torch in her hand, that looks like a strike of lightning. Her name, "Mother of Exiles". Her torch is famous and welcomes many people from all over. She sits in a harbor between two cities. She cries out for the man to keep his lands. She wants to set everyone free and give them what they need, send those to her who need help, so she can provide.
  • POOR
  • C- Giant, fame, conquering, astride, mighty, imprisoned, exiles, command, frame, storied, pomp, silent, huddled, yearning, free, wretched, refuse, teeming.
  • A- There isn't much of a tone or attitude to this poem. It is very calm toward the beginning, then powerful, strong, and serious toward the middle/end.
  • S- The shift in this story is when you get to the quotes and it becomes very empowering and exciting, because before it was very simple calm.
  • T- The theme of this story is "some of the simplest things in life, have the biggest meaning behind them". T- The New Colossus. I now know that this title is talking about the Statue of Liberty.
