Storyboard Text
Many of these computers looked like large boxes that could be taller than a full grown adult.
Vacuums were used for the first generation of computers.
First Generation1940-1955
The computer size decreased, but could still be as tall as year waist, some reaching near shoulder-level.
Second Generation1956-1964
Transitioners were then used for computers instead of the vacuum.
The third generation used integrated wires for computers
These computers were medium sized boxes, which could be as large as the length or width of a chair.
Third Generation1964-1971
Fourth Generation1971-Present
Now, in the fourth generation, microprocessors are used for computers.
Now computers aren't so big anymore, about twice the width of a human head.
Computers now can range from being as large as walls, to small desk surfaces.
In the fifth generation, computers are better hidden in walls and surroundings.
Fifth GenerationMid 2020s-Early 2030s
Sixth GenerationEarly 2030s to 2050s
The sixth generation uses more cameras to look at surroundings, such as the windows actually being cameras.
