The Wangarans were people who lived south of Ghana, and they had a lot of gold.
The West Africans mined salt (the salt mines were in the north), but also had resources like grains, and leather.
The West Africans used camels as a way of transportation for them.
The two groups would trade at a river, near Ghana. It was a silent trade or barter.
This was good, because it kept the secret of where the Wangaran's gold was.
This was also good because then the West Africans got some gold, and got wealthy.
