  • Hello my name is Byron i am a lumber industry worker in the future going to be asking people in the past about the lumber industry so let´s travel back in time see you there.
  • Here is the first step so Mr. can you explain what this place does and your name?
  • Hi Ms. my name is Reo and this is lumber mill workers make lumber from raw logs. They sort the logs into different sizes and kinds of wood.
  •  In the lumber mill they saw and cut the logs into various widths and lengths. Some workers may prepare rough lumber for industrial use. Other workers prepare lumber for dispatch to planing or plywood mills. Because lumber mills are sometimes called sawmills, lumber mill workers may be called sawmill workers.
  • They work a conveyor belt that moves the logs into a chute that enters the mill. Barker operators run machines that strip the bark or other rough material from the logs. Deck workers roll the logs onto a movable platform or carriage. Block setters arrange the logs in position A lumber mill worker is cutting the lumber into specific widths. They work a conveyor belt that moves the logs into a chute that enters the mill. •  Planer mill graders mark the finished wood according to its grade. Then they store the lumber or ship it to wholesalers. In plywood mills workers glue thin pieces of wood veneers to each other to form plywood.
  • Well first off Byron In 1997, forest landowners planted nearly 1.6 billion seedlings. ... The forest products industry is one of the top ten largest United States manufacturingindustries. Today the United States has far more trees than in the 1920's and grows over one-third more wood than is used and lost to natural causes each year.
