Odysseus and his men encounter he cyclops within the depths of his cave, but a giant stone is blocking them from exiting the cave.
Odysseus comes up with a plan to escape, he and his men wait until the cyclops is asleep, and then blind him by stabbing him in the eye.
When the cyclops lets out his sheep, Odysseus and his men escape by riding under the sheep. The cyclops does not feel them, and Odysseus returns to his ship.
Athena helped Odysseus make it into Ithaca and reunite him with his son, Telemachus. She then explained to Odysseus the problem with the suitors, and what they needed to do in order to get rid of them.
Athena then helped Odysseus disguise himself as a beggar to hide his identity. Odysseus then completes Penelope's challenge of shooting an arrow through 12 ax handle sockets.
Athena then changes Odysseus back into his old self, revealing his true identity to Penelope. Odysseus regains rule of Ithaca, and all the suitors are gone.
