  • In my view, human nature was a blank state. - Lockes
  • The authority/rulers was a monarchy led be a king . I wrote a book called 'Leviathan". This is the book that he wrote during the English Civil War. He believed that the ideal (best) government was a monarchy led by a king.
  • The authority/rulers is the government. Only the legitimate form of the government was limited and focused on securing those natural rights.. and that people had the right to overthrow a government that didn't protect those natural rights. - Lockes
  • In my view about human nature was poor, nasty, brutish, and short. Hobbes thought people were born selfish, mean, etc. - Hobbes
  • People were born naturally cruel, greedy andselfish … that life in a state of nature was “solitary, poor, nasty,brutish and short". - Hobbes
  • People were born naturally reasonable and moral.. that they were born with natural rights to life, liberty and property ! - Lockes
  • I developed a theory of social contract that included a right to revolution if the sovereign government failed to act in its people's interests.
  • I believed that governments could be unjust, and when they were it was the duty of the people to replace them. - Hobbes
