  • Molly Pitcher was an American Patriot. She married William Hays and followed him because he was a soldier in the war.
  • 1778
  • When the Battle of Monmouth started on June 28,1778 it was very hot out. Molly saw her husband sweating as he was firing the cannon.
  • 1778
  • Molly asked what can I do and William said one word water. She ran to get water for William and soldiers.
  • 1778
  • Molly loaded the cannon to take her husband's place and fired the cannon. One cannonball from the other side almost hit Molly’s leg but she kept on fighting.
  • FIRE!

  • After the battle Molly was repaid the salary of a soldier because of her brave actions  in the revolution. Most women did not fight in the American Revolution but because of her bravery she was able to show how strong women can be.
