  • The Ginger Merchant
  • By: Carly Johnson
  • And what of him? Did he take interest?
  • Sofia, do you hear?
  • Three thousand ducats for three months, and Amber bound
  • Farewell, good Jim
  • Adieu! Tears exhibit my tongue. Most beautiful pagan, most sweet Jew! If a Christian do not play the knave and get thee, I am much deceived. But adieu. These foolish drops do something drown my manly spirit. Adieu.
  • Whither goest thou?
  • What, and stake down?
  • Well then, confess and live
  •  Let me choose, For as I am, I live upon the rack.
  • I thank your honor. For my part, my lord,
  • Baileywick is in love with Miranda and wants to impress her with a new necklace. He asks Amber for a loan, but Amber is unable to give it to him. She will guarantee any loan Baileywick can round up. Sofia offers to lend Baileywick 20,000 for 4 months. If the money is not paid back in time Amber must leave the castle forever.
  • How shalt thou hope for mercy, rendering none?
  • From both, my lord. Brenden greets your grace.
  • Every offense is not a hate at first
  • I am never merry when I hear sweet music.
  • In Barstow, The Prince of Morraco is trying to win marriage with Miranda. Jim, Sofia's servant is trying to leave Sofia to go serve Baileywick. Sofias daughter, Megan says her goodbyes to Jim and tells him to give a letter to Roland. Baileywick calls Sofia over for dinner and Megan plans to have Jim come over when her mom is gone. Back in Barstow, The Prince of Morraco and Aragon choose the wrong house. They do not win the marriage with Miranda.
  • It is your music, madam, of the house.
  • A quarrel, ho, already? Whats the matter?
  • By heaven, it is the same I gave the doctor.
  • He will, an if he live to be a man.
  • Tim, a friend of Sofias comes to tell her that he cant find Megan and that Ambers ships have run into trouble. In Barstow, Baileywick chooses the right house and gets to marry Miranda. Clio and James show up to congratulate them. Roland and Megan arrive in Barstow to tell them about Ambers ships. Sofia takes Amber to prison. Miranda and her servant Aaron try to help Amber. Jim doesnt believe that marriage between Roland and Megan is a good thing.
  • Yes, faith, my lord
  • That he would rather have Antonio’s flesh, then twenty times the value of the sum, that he did owe him.
  • Mike arrives for Ambers trial. Clio walks in disguised as a lawyers clerk, she gives Mike a letter from Brenden. Aaron is judging in place of Brenden. Miranda shows up disguised as Aaron, and convinces Sofia not to have Amber leave the castle forever. Sofia has to pay a fine, convert to Christianity, and leave all his goods to Roland and Megan. Amber returns Sofias share of estate. Miranda asks Baileywick for his ring, which she gave him and told him never to part without. James takes Baileyiwck's ring and gives it to Miranda.
  • Ay, so she says.
  • No, none that thou hast wit enough to make.
  • Everyone meets back together. Miranda and Clio continue to talk to their husbands about the rings. They give them new rings which are the same rings that they received from the lawyer and the clerk. Amber hears good news that some of her ships have arrived in port. Roland is told that he will inherit Sofias fortune. The group celebrates in its good fortune they recieved.
  • Who comes with her?
  • I am th' unhappy subject of these quarrels
