In June of 1775 the British advanced to Bunker Hill and won the battle but had a bigger death count than Americans led by William Howe which showed the Americans that they could win.
Battle of Camden 1780
In December of 1776 Washington led his army across the Delaware river and advanced to Trenton New Jersey. The American troops killed Hessian and British soldiers and won the battle pushing the British and Hessian soldiers to retreat.
Battle of Charles Town 1780
In October of 1777 British general Burgoyne achieved a victory at Saratoga. Eighteen days later the second battle took place and the Americans won and pushed back British troops, this was known as a turning point in the war.
Battle Of Yorktown 1781
In August of 1780 General gates and his men fought the British led by General Cornwallis at Camden and lost and had to retreat. With over 2,00 Patriots killed or surrendered in battle Gates was forced to resign and was replaced by Nathaniel Greene.
In 1780 the British seized Charles Town from American control as they shifted their attack to the southern American colonies.
In the fall of 1781 American and French troops advanced to Yorktown and defeated the British and Hessians in a battle where the British surrendered. This was the last major battle in the revolutionary war.
