  • They would row on & eventually see land, finding the Cyclops' Cave
  • ''A wineskin full I brought along, and victuals in a bag, for in my bones I know some towering-brute would be upon us soon'' (Homer, 112)
  • Odysseus is nervous that something unfortunate could happen to them in the cave.
  • ''. . . so we looked round at everything inside: a dying rack that sagged with cheeses, pens crowded with lambs and kids'' (Homer, 118)
  • As they go in the cave, the men were glad to see food & that they should take it, but Odysseus refused.
  • ''When he came he had a load of dry boughs on his shoulder to stroke his fire at suppertime. He dumped it with a great crash into that hollow cave.'' (Homer, 135)
