  • I would like to consult on why these sort of events happen.
  • Sir, regarding about the earthquake last week, I was curious about the formation of this earthquake.
  • Well you see there's something called the Continental Drift Theory by Alfred Wegener.
  • Wegener (1880-1930), a German meteorologist, climatologist, and geophysicist, proposed the hypothesis that the continents were once part of a single enormous landmass or supercontinent about 240 million years ago before breaking apart and drifting to their current locations.
  • Continental plate theory - theory that describes the earth's crust as divided into a number of rigid plates, movement of which accounts for such phenomena as continental drift and the distribution of earthquakes.
  • His evidences were: the apparent fit of the eastern coastline of South America and western coastline of Africa.
