- Sir, regarding about the earthquake last week, I was curious about the formation of this earthquake.
- Well you see there's something called the Continental Drift Theory by Alfred Wegener.
- Wegener (1880-1930), a German meteorologist, climatologist, and geophysicist, proposed the hypothesis that the continents were once part of a single enormous landmass or supercontinent about 240 million years ago before breaking apart and drifting to their current locations.
- Continental plate theory - theory that describes the earth's crust as divided into a number of rigid plates, movement of which accounts for such phenomena as continental drift and the distribution of earthquakes.
