  • Good morning, Students! We are conducting an experiment today! Materials:1. A beaker with baking soda. 2. Bottle with vinegar
  • Task: We are going to inflate a balloon by combining vinegar and baking soda. 1. What words would you use to describe baking soda and vinegar?
  • Miss, I think the baking soda is a solid. Even though it is a powder, the grains are solid.
  • Good morning Miss PAAM!I would describe the vinegar as a clear, liquid.
  • Yes Miss!
  • Very good Amanda! The vinegar is a clear LIQUID. How would you describe the baking soda Peter?
  • Excellent! The baking soda is a SOLID!Do you think when we combine the 2 it will cause the balloon to inflate?
  • Cool! The bubbles are rising to the top of the bottle and the balloon is inflating!
  • Wow! mixture is bubbling up!

  • When we combine our Solid (baking soda) and our Liquid (vinegar) a reaction occur resulting in a GAS called -Carbon dioxide. This inflates our balloon.
