  • The Great war lasted from 1914 - 1918. It began when Austria - Hungary declared war on Serbia. Trench warfare was introduced on the German - French frontlin-es. It ended on November 11, 11:00, when the German Empire surrendered, ending the war.
  • The Cold War
  • The United State's economy experienced a massive recession, and that took a toll on the global economy. It was hard to find jobs and make money. It would last throughout the 1920s.
  • The Civil and LGBTQ+ rights movements
  • The Second World War began in 1939, when Nazi Ger-many invaded Poland. The Nazis rounded up hundre- ds of thousands of Jews. In the Pacific theatre, American naval fleets fought the Japanese navy on small isla-nds.
  • The Age of the internet and theyoung people revolution
  • The Cold War was a half - century long period of tens-ion between the US and the Soviet Union (USSR). It saw the threat of nuclear war, and a third world war. Both the US and USSR we-re vying to beat the other in gaining influence globally.
  • Following the end of WW2, many groups, including people of colour and the LGBTQ+ communities. Event- ually, rights were granted to minority groups.
  • In the 1990s, the internet became easier to access and more relevant. In the 2000s, internet use boomed. In that time, climate change became a huge issue as well. Young people are still today protesting for climate action.
