Storyboard Text

  • Interphase
  • Prophase
  • Metaphase
  • The cell is in this stage most of the time. DNA and chromosomes duplicate and prepare for mitosis.
  • Anaphase
  • The nucleus starts to disappear. Centrioles appear and move to opposite ends of the cell. The chromatin are floating aruond in the cell.
  • Telophase
  • The nucleus is gone and chromatids attach to spindle fibers and line up in the middle, preparing to be pulled apart
  • Cytokinesis
  • The sister chromatids move to opposite sides after splitting, so both of the new cells both have DNA.
  • Two new nuclei form and the spindle fibers disappear. The cell starts to split in half.
  • The one cell splits into two new identical cells with 46 chromosomes in each.
