Christopher Columbus was looking for India when he landed in Texas.He traded food with the native Americans (which he called Indians because he thought he was in India)and in return they gave him gold because it had no worth to them.

What Cabeza did was he was trying to sail but then he got in a shipwreck but that wasnt totally a bad thing considering he met the Karankawas. Also while he was exploring the land he discovered the ¨seven cities of gold¨
After Cabeza came back from his exploring he told everyone about the cities of gold.So next Cornado tried to find them. considering there were no actual cities of gold he didnt find them but he did find the grasslands.
