Mr. Rauch good to see you today, my first question to you is: Why did you end the memoir the way you wanted it to be?
Well, I wanted my readers to predict but at the same time, consider what I've been through, all the letters they've read for my parents, and all of the memories I've mentioned
What do readers like me want to learn after reading this book?
I want them to learn that no matter what obstacles they face, always try to find a way to get through it, regardless on the severity of the situation.
You may have some influence in the world when looking back. Explain the purpose of writing this book. What was the universal message?
The main "message" of this book is, like I said, face your fears, have faith even when times are though, since you have control of your own life, not others.
I know for a fact that your were in Hitlers Army. When did you realize regretting being in that situation you were in?
I would say during the time when I went to war against the Russians, due to my ancestry and situation. Since the Holocaust was at its peak at that time, I was concerned about my identity and future, like which direction would this go. Could it get better or worse than it should be.
During your time in one of Russia's labor camps, what was going through your head, were you feeling a sense of Hope or Helplessness
Both actually, you know after I got captured, I had no idea what was going to happen next. I thought my life would end there. But I had hope when they released me as a "Russian Spy", knowing that I finally got to go on a long journey back home.
Thanks for giving me an opportunity on letting this talk take place!!!
