Henry wants to get pizza with Bob
Pizza 35% off. Limited time only
Sally's mother finds out that the price of the candy has changed. The amount that it use to be was $3.50 per pound and now it is $6.00.
Henry and Bob are trying to figure out how much the pizza costs
After subtracting the greater number by the lesser number, and taking that answer to divide it by the original amount. Sally's mom found out it was a 71% increase.
They finally figure out the price and they have enough money to get it
Henry hears that there is garlic pizza for 35% off and wants to try it. The original price was $5.
Dude! We should go get some pizza
Henry and his friend, Bob, can't seem to figure out how to find out the cost of the pizza and are both too shy to ask anybody.
How can we find out the new price?
Bob figured out how to find the new amount. First, he turned 35% into a decimal. Then, he multiplied 0.35 to the original amount which was $5. The answer, 1.75, then has to be subtracted away from 5. The answer is 3.25 so the price is $3.25.
