  • The Assyrian came down like wolf on the fold and his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold
  • like leaves of the forest when summer is green like leaves of the forest when autumn hath blown
  • For the angle of death spread his wings on the blast and there hearts once heaved , and forever grew still
  • In this stanza they use a similie to describe there preditors as wolfs and they use the word gold to help represent who is wealthy and who is not .
  • The foam of his gasping lay white on the turf ,and as cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf
  • in stanza two they have used a similie in the two quotes to refrence nature to describe how many there are.
  • The tents were all silent , the banners alone, the lances unlifted the trumpet unblown .
  • There is imagery in stanza 3 to describe the angle of death and the way that one breath on the army can kill them .
  • And the idols are brike in the temole of Baal
  • Stanza 4 uses really disturbing and graphic imagery to what happened to the horse by using gasping , white and spray .
  • in stanza 5 they use sensory imagry to tell people that the war is over and that all the soldier are dead .
  • in stanza six the poem creates a guilty vibe to make everyone feel sorry for all the woman that were left lonly after there husbands or partners were killed at war .
