  • Michelangelo was a sculptor, engineer, painter, architect, and poet. He made marble masterpieces such as the Pieta which captures the dead Christ on her knees. His statue of David recalls the harmony and grace of ancient Greek tradition.

  • Michelangelo's greatest project was painting a huge mural to decorate the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. It depicted the biblical history of the world from the Creation to the Flood.
  • Michelangelo's Projects
  • Michelangelo was not a humanist because a humanist's focus was mainly on the here and now. Michelangelo focused mostly on the past and the Bible. While he made many contributions to sculpting, engineering, and architecture, his main focus was on biblical work.

  • Castiglione wrote a book to help ambitious men and women who wanted to rise in the Renaissance world. This book was called The Book of the Courtier. In it, Castiglione describes the manners, skills, learning, and virtues that a member of the court should have.

  • In Castiglione's book, he descibes the manners, skills, learnings, and virtues that a member of the court should have. His ideal courtier was a well-eduacated, well-mannered aristocrat who mastered many fields.

  • Baldassare Castiglione was definitely a humanist. A humanist is someone who is focused on the present and how to live the best in the here and now. His views were used to help people live a better life so he was definitely a humanist.
