  • This scene shows the lesson that a tribe is only as strong as the leader they have. The Spear-Danes respected there wise and generous king who was given his great qualities from God.
  • This scene shows Hrothgar building Heorot for his men and their accomplishments, instead of a temple to thank god.
  • This scene shows Hrothgar's men drinking and celebrating too much. They weren't prepared for Grendel.
  • This scene shows Unferth trying to embrass Beowulf. Unferth has not learned his lesson because he's jealous and angry instead being humble.
  • This scene shows Beowulf's great confidence in his abilities. He was so confident he fought Grendel without weapons and armor.
  • This scene proves that Beowulf's faith in god and loyalty to his fellow men prevented him from losing to one of the most evil and powerful creatures on Earth.
