  • This all started when the French and British were fighting over territory in North America. This took place in the 1700's for nine years! They started a war. Soon the British had to retreat because they weren't good at fighting in the circumstances they were in. The British then went back to North America and blocked out the French with ships for any supplies they needed and they won. With all this land they had to pays so they taxed the American Colonists which did not go well.
  • The Boston Massacre
  • The Colonists were very upset that they were being taxed. They had never been taxed before and they had always governed themselves. There were different acts they were being taxed, including the sugar act were they were taxed for sweets, another one of them was called the Quartering Act. This act was forcing the colonists to keep British soldiers in there house. They were forced to feed them give them a home.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • Another act that the British made the American Colonists pay was called the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is one of the acts the colonists were very unhappy about, for every public document (newspaper, license, contracts) they were forced to pay taxes. They were very upset by this particular act because people bought public documents all the time.
  • The Intolerable Acts
  • The Boston Massacre happened in the 1700's when British soldiers came after colonists in Boston. Massachusetts was one of the colonies that was really raged about paying taxes. They were starting violence because they were so upset, so British soldiers came to look after them. One day a crowd of colonists gathered to attack the British soldiers which started a fight. The British soldiers fired and killed five people.
  • The Boston Tea Party was a protest with the American Colonists about the British government they were forced to follow, the British were making them pay taxes. The colonists were throwing loads of tea in the ocean. They did this because tea was a favorite drink of the British. Also tea was a great trading source for the British, and they had to pay high taxes for tea. This took place at the Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773.
  • The Intolerable acts were made because of the Boston Tea Party. The British were The Intolerable acts were caused by the government upset with the colony of Massachusetts so they stated to give them more acts to follow. The acts were... The Boston Part act where the port of Boston was closed until all tea thrown in the Ocean was repaid to The British East company. The Massachusetts Government Act was where the government in Massachusetts was replaced with officials appointed from Great Britain. The Administration of Justice Act is where all royal officials in Massachusetts were to be tried by a court in Britain to get a better sentence. Also there was The Quartering Act. Later fifty-six American colonists met up at Carpenters Hall to plan freedom.
