"Don't cry. Keep your anger and hatred for another day, for later on. that day will come, but not now... Wait. Grit your teeth and wait..."Theme: It's not always best to let your anger out/be known, think before you act. Let fate decide their punishment instead. This is shown in the scene by, after being beat harshly by Idek, the French girl supports Elie a little, even wiping his bloody forehead and handing him some bread. She too was afraid but told him that it's not always best to let your anger be known. She tells him to "grit his teeth" and to "wait". This event was like a message that told him to hold in that rage instead of bursting. This could, and did, save him from any further dangers that could've happened. It taught him patience too, let Fate bring Idek what he deserves. Her words helped give him hope that there is still kindness left in the world. Since he is very religious, this could've been viewed as a way of God showing he has not abandoned his believers yet, but to wait for his judgement to be executed.
