- My name is Robert Hooke, and I discovered cells. I was looking at a cork under a microscope and saw multiple chambers that looked like cells!
- Hi! I am Matthias Schleiden, a German botanist who made extensive microscopic observations of plant tissues and described them as being composed of cells.
- My name is Theodor Schwann. I made similar microscopic observations of animal tissue. After a conversation with Schleiden, I realized that similarities existed between plant and animal tissues.
- I am Robert Remak, a prominent neurologist and embryologist,. I published convincing evidence that cells are derived from other cells as a result of cell division.
- My name is Rudolf Virchow, and I found out that cells are made of cells. Because of my discovery, it became easier to discover diseases.
